Meatballs & Tomato Sauce
These juicy, flavor-packed meatballs simmered in a savory tomato sauce make a cozy, satisfying meal. Serve them with pasta or tuck them into a crusty baguette for the ultimate meatball sub.
Ingredients:
For the meatballs:
-
1 lb. ground beef
-
1 lb. ground pork
-
2 eggs
-
2 slices of bread
-
1/2 cup milk
-
1 medium onion, chopped and sautéed
-
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
-
1 Tbsp. Real Salt Organic Garlic Salt
-
1 tsp. cracked black pepper (optional)

For the tomato sauce:
-
1 1/2 28 oz. cans crushed tomatoes
-
3 large garlic cloves, grated or minced
-
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
Garnish:
-
Grated Parmesan cheese
-
Chili flakes
-
Flake salt (if you’re in Utah, try our Real Salt Sundance Flake Salt, available only at Redmond Farm Market)
-
Olive oil
Instructions:
-
Pour the milk over the bread slices in a bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes, or until the bread fully absorbs the milk, then mash into a paste.
-
Add beef, pork, eggs, sautéed onion, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and cracked black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
-
Scoop and roll the meat mixture into evenly sized balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-
Bake at 400°F for 25–30 minutes, or until meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

-
In a large saucepot, combine crushed tomatoes, garlic, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt.
-
Simmer over medium heat for 15–20 minutes while the meatballs bake.
-
Once meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the sauce and stir gently to coat.

-
Serve hot, topped with Parmesan, a generous drizzle of olive oil, chili flakes, and flake salt.

-
Pair with pasta or serve on a toasted baguette with mozzarella for a hearty sandwich.
